The Brookwood PTO is always looking for volunteers! Please contact the email listed for each event if you would like more information.
Join us for family game night, Bobcat style! Join our committee and help decorate, sell Bingo cards, concessions or hand out prizes. This is a fun event for all ages so bring the whole family!
DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE
This Prom-like dance is an annual event for any Brookwood Dad, Uncle or Grandfather to attend with all of his daughters, granddaughters or nieces attending BES. The committee works hard to decorate the cafeteria, hire a DJ and offer light snacks to the attendees. Preparation for the event begins in November, costs are covered by admission, and the 2-hour dance is a wonderful night for young ladies and their dads.
Fall Festival is a family event held at the school. There were games, bounce houses, hay rides, carnival rides, a petting zoo and vendors selling produce, food, and more. To top it off we raised money for the Media Center with our fun Kiss the Pig contest. We look forward to doing it again this year!
The Welcoming Committee will work to welcome all new families to Brookwood. This will include families that move to the area during the school year as well as new families at the beginning of the year. Kindergarten families will be included if they don't have older students who already attend Brookwood.
PARTNERS IN EDUCATION - Bridgetfaunce@brookwoodpto.com
Partners in Education is a partnership between Brookwood Elementary and local businesses and organizations. Community businesses and organizations donate monetary, voluntary or in kind donations in return for exposure to our school community. Every effort is made to drive our families to these groups that support efforts at Brookwood.
Volunteers for PIE are usually asked to run paperwork to and from our partners or assist with donations.
Many businesses will match any money you give to the PTO. After you write your check, the employee goes online to submit their contribution and then the company will send a matching check to the PTO. We do not utilize this resource as we should and therefore need at least one volunteer to help get this program going.
MERCHANT REWARDS - Treasurer@Brookwoodpto.com
This year we are collecting Box Tops. You can send these in with your child and we will collect them and submit them for money and items for our school!
We also receive money for merchant rewards when our families use their Publix key fobs at checkout, use their Target credit/debit card and use Amazon Smile.
We have Publix key fobs available at the school. If you do not already have one, or the one you have is wearing out, feel free to stop by and pick up a new one.
We receive a percentage back of your Target purchases when you use your Target debit or credit card. All you have to do is be sure to designate Brookwood Elementary as your school.
When you shop online use Amazon Smile and Brookwood Elementary will receive money!
MOTHER/SON DATE NIGHT
The Mother/Son Date Night is an annual event for male students to have an opportunity to bond with their mom. In years past there has been a Safari Adventure at Brookwood with a visit from the Reptile Wrangler, and a magic show and dinner in the cafeteria.
HONORING OUR HEROES:
The Honoring Our Heroes program was designed to encourage children to discover "real life" heroes who have shown generosity, trust, persistence, dedication, leadership, creativity, caring, bravery, imagination, service, gentleness, courage or compassion. The creators of the program wanted the children to redefine the heroes they saw portrayed in the media – cartoon characters, superstar athletes, rock musicians, etc. – and to instead recognize the true heroes in their lives. This year, the Brookwood PTO has chosen to honor our US Armed Forces. Children are to write a letter to a US Serviceperson thanking them for their service. Letters will be collected and submitted to a local radio station who distributes these letters throughout the world, just in time for Thanksgiving.
The PTO will host an Honoring our Heroes reception, in conjunction with our November 5th general membership meeting, wherein children are encouraged to bring an active member of the US military or a veteran so that we may recognize them.
We are looking for volunteers to assist in gathering the letters on a designated due date, as well as assisting with the reception. Set up, serving and clean-up are areas in which volunteers would be needed.
Family Science Night
A fun-filled family event that reinforces the science standards of each grade to the entire family. There will be many science lectures and experiment sessions planned throughout the evening, many with completed experiments to take and enjoy at home.
The school store offers students the chance to purchase basic school supplies as well as novelty items. The committee chairperson will purchase and keep inventory. Volunteers are needed Wednesday mornings before school from September to March.
The yearbook is something all of the students and families of Brookwood enjoy to reflect back on the memories made at Brookwood. The committee will need to make sure all events are being photographed and pictures are received. They will work with the yearbook company directly, paying them and getting pages sent in on time. The principal must approve all pages before yearbook goes to process. The chairperson will need to have a committee person to keep track of all orders, who then in turn will be in charge of distribution of yearbooks.
The Holiday Shop is held for three school days and one evening in December. It allows students to purchase gifts for their families and friends in a safe and fun environment. The committee will work with the Holiday Shop vendor. They will need to get shopping days and times information out to teachers, parents and students in a timely manner. It would be best if the chairperson were at all three days and evening session.
Bobby's Manager books his appearances and makes sure Bobby stays in good condition. The chairperson can dress as Bobby or find someone who will. The chairperson needs to make sure Bobby stays clean and in good condition. Bobby needs at least one "security" person at events. All events are booked through Bobby's Manager.
Directors of Spirit Wear
Spirit Wear is sold to promote school spirit. The committee will be in charge of working with the printing company to design Spirit Wear for fall and for winter. Final designs must be approved by the PTO Board. The committee must make sure there's enough inventory to sell at the events prior to the event, keep up-to-date inventory and getting volunteers to sell at the various events throughout the school year.
